Currently in January

Happy 2014! So far this year is wonderful. An easy morning watching the Rose Parade, a little blogging, and we may go see Frozen this afternoon. I hear it's terrific! It's been a few months since my last Currently post. I was looking forward to one for January so here it goes:

Listening: It's so peaceful this morning. Nice and quiet outside. Inside my kitty is snoring next to me. Ahhh.....
Loving: It's wonderful  to be home! We left last Monday afternoon to spend Christmas with family and came home Thursday afternoon. We left again Saturday for my mother-in-laws to finally learn how to make her fabulous spaghetti sauce! She moved to Panama a few years ago with her husband and my husband and I really wanted to learn the recipe before... well, before we can't anymore, and she never wrote it down. We stayed with her, took her to the airport Sunday for her early morning flight out on Monday, then we headed home. I enjoy being gone, but it's so nice to come back home!
Thinking: About loving time off, but how strange it is to want to go to work too. I need to go for a day to prep for January. Maybe tomorrow. We'll see.
Wanting: Well, that said it. Do you have a favorite place to get comfy shoes? Any suggestions?
Needing: Oh boy. There are lots of decorations to take down. They look so pretty, but I guess it's about time. The yard takes about 20 hours to set up. Luckily it comes apart faster.
Memory: Our trip to Scottsdale, AZ at Easter was fabulous! We relaxed, visited a ghost town, and spent some time with our very good friends.
Tradition: We still bake Christmas cookies at Mom's house every year. It's so much fun and such a special tradition to me. This year we made the must-have Peanut Butter cookies and Magic Cookie Bars but added oatmeal-cranberry and chocolate nutella cookies. OMG were they good!

I hope your day is wonderful and relaxing too! Any suggestions for a good online shoe store?

  1. Those Christmas decorations are haunting me, too. I just know I need to clean it up, I just don't want to! It's a good thing they are so pretty. :-)

I'll be at school tomorrow, so if you end up going, don't feel bad. I'll be right there with ya!

    1. Oh, you've got to try those chocolate nutella cookies! They'll cure any chocolate fix for sure. You can find that recipe here http://allrecipes.com/recipe/nutella-hazelnut-cookies/, and the cranberry oatmeal here http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/chewy-oatmeal-cranberry-cookies-recipe/index.html
They were both so good! Happy baking and eating!

  3. I'm struggling with the comfy shoes too. Lately I've been getting a lot of flats from Target, but I am looking for something a little more supportive. I am also open to ideas!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to try Target. It's 25 miles away so I don't go often but I'll be sure to check there next time we're nearby. Hopefully we can both find what we're looking for!

  4. Hi Chrissy!
My own Christmas decorations were quickly tossed in a box the morning after. I confess that I can barely tolerate the changes that we make to our den to make room for the tree and other what-nots. Isn't that terrible?! Happy New Year to You and Yours!

    1. They make me happy too. We didn't get the lights in the yard down today so they came on automatically. My husband turned them off and it seemed so sad. I love the festive spirit of Christmas! I'll miss it till next year.

  6. Can't wait to try the chocolate nutella cookies! I would try Zappos for shoes. There are tons of choices, but the best is the returns are SO easy. Plus you don't have to go to the store.
Happy New Year!! Good luck shopping.
