Change is on the Way! (bookmark freebie too!)

There's a big change coming my way next school year... I've loved teaching first grade and will probably do it again, but for now I'm changing grades and moving on to 2nd grade. And I'm taking my whole wonderful class from last year with me. I'm so excited! So...

Last year there were two boys who only knew about half of their letters and sounds and by the end of the year were full-fledged readers. One of them struggled just to count on his fingers in September and by the end of the year was able to add and subtract fairly well up to 10 as long as he had objects to count. I am so proud of them for their progress and just can't wait to see how far they get in 2nd grade! It's going to be so much fun!

As soon as the grade change was official my brain started thinking about next year (of course, right?). My classroom was decorated with frogs last year and I'll change to an ocean theme next year and start with a science unit on ocean animals.

Wait, one more thing... just got a phone call from our district office and my classroom has been selected to be a Model Technology Classroom for the next 2 years. I'll have a class set of laptop tablets. Not sure what those are, but I'm sure this will be a fun adventure. Yippee!! I don't know exactly what I'll be doing, but yippee anyway!
